As with most big-ticket appliances, you can never really trust a salesperson rambling on about the unmatched benefits of their company’s products. Spa Pools are no exception, in a somewhat crowded marketplace we hope to give customers fair and accurate information on the industry’s major players.
Customers looking for a new spa pool have a list of considerations to make, knowing what and who you can trust is an excellent place to start. Sticking to the facts, this article will dive into New Zealand’s leading Spa Pool brands and the retailers who stock them.
Spa World™ – Vortex® Spas
A player in the New Zealand spa pool market since 2011, Vortex® spas are sold at Spa World™. This brand is recognised for selling affordable, good-quality spa pools with long-lasting warranties.
Vortex® spas are made in China, in a factory called Foshan A-Tech Building Material Co., Ltd. The Vortex plant is 100% owned by a Chinese businessman.
The Vortex® Spas range’s cheapest spa pool is $6,499 for a minimalist 2-seater, where the most expensive is $20,499 which can fit up to 10 people.
We highly recommend prospective buyers of this range thoroughly read through the product’s warranty details, as there are many circumstances where you could be caught out in the cold, with a void warranty.

HotSpring® – HighLife® Spas
As the largest spa pool manufacturer in the world, bringing 40 years of experience, HotSpring® knows what it takes to make a great spa pool. We see this with its HighLife® range, which boasts some impressive attributes.
Offering exclusive features such as its Moto-Massage™ Jet System, Silentflo™ Circulation, and Freshwater™ Salt System this spa is marketed as a luxury product that will exceed your expectations. The Highlife® range is manufactured in the United States and offers a level of hydrotherapy that you would struggle to match with other brands on the market, besides Jacuzzi®.
Unfortunately, the HighLife® range is not an option for all Kiwis, with prices ranging from $28,000 for a 3-seater to $46,000 for a 7-seater. These prices reflect all the bells and whistles you receive with a HighLife® spa, but the reality is; these spa pools do a slightly better job at the exact same functions than cheaper spas do, for a significantly higher price.
Spa World™ – Jacuzzi® Spas
The Jacuzzi brothers pioneered the first spa pool as we know it today, more than 60 years ago to accommodate the treatment needs of a son born with arthritis. Spa World™ is currently the only Jacuzzi® Spas retailer in New Zealand.
Manufactured in Mexico, Jacuzzi® Spas has several ranges of spas, offering more features and greater hydrotherapy functionality as you move up in price. This is another brand that appears to be targeting customers looking for a luxury, or premium product, who aren’t concerned with the price. From Spa World™ the cheapest Jacuzzi® Spas is $12,495, which seats 3 people, while the most expensive spa is $30,495.
We find Jacuzzi® spas to be of similar quality in terms of key functionality, as HighLife® spas, at a slightly cheaper price. Hydrotherapy is the key feature, as the global innovators of this technology it’s no surprise Jacuzzi® Spas remains a leader in this field.
Jacuzzi® offers comprehensive and straightforward warranties on all its spas.
Alpine Spas™ – Alpine Spas
Alpine Spas™ ethos is to provide New Zealand families their own slice of luxury, at an affordable price. It appears to resonate, as a 100% Kiwi-owned and operated business, Alpine Spas™ has quickly become the largest spa pool retailer in the country.
Alpine Spas™ products are designed by the Canadian Spa Company who boasts 30 years of experience in spa pool manufacturing. This range starts at $5,495 for a 3-seater spa pool and is topped at $10,995 for a 7-seater spa. Compared with other brands in this review, Alpine Spas™ claims the award for most affordable.
Compromising features and functionality is not part of the equation, as Alpine Spas™ come with comprehensive insulation systems, great massage jet functionality, and effective hydrotherapy. Also coming with a 60-day satisfaction guarantee, customers can test the spa pool in their own home and return it if they are unimpressed. All-inclusive and long-lasting warranties alongside a dedicated 7-day customer care team ensure Alpine Spas™ customers can enjoy their slice of paradise stress-free for many seasons to come.
Alpine Spas™ keeps a large majority of spa pools in stock, in New Zealand, meaning customers can have their new spa delivered a matter of days after purchasing.
