Who Owns Spa World™?
Previously operating under the name Vortex Spas™, the company name was changed to Spa World™ in January 2019.
The company is majority overseas-owned. This means the majority of Spa World™’s profits do not fall back into the New Zealand economy.
Spa World™ operates across Australia and New Zealand, with showrooms in Auckland, Nelson, and Christchurch. Its product range includes; spa pools, swim spas, saunas, and plunge pools.
The spa pool range consists of three product brands:
- Fisher Spas®
- Vortex Spas™ and Swim Spas.
- Jacuzzi Spas®
Pricing and Manufacturing
- Fisher Spas® – $6,990 – $21,990.
- Vortex Spas™ – $6,499 – $32,499 (most popular range at Spa World™)
- Jacuzzi Spas® – $12,495 – $30,490
Fisher Spas® and Vortex Spas™ spa pools are priced in the lower to mid-range when compared with the industry average across New Zealand.
Jacuzzi Spas® is priced in the high range when compared with the industry average.
Jacuzzi Spas® operates factories in Europe, South America, Canada, The United States, and Mexico. With a large majority manufactured in Mexico.
Does Spa World™ or Vortex Spas™ Own Their Factory?
The Vortex plant is owned by a Chinese businessman, Liao Yunwei, who owns 100% of the factory. Fisher Spas® and Vortex Spas™ are manufactured in a factory based in Foshan, China called A-Tech Building Material Co., Ltd. Models can be found on their manufacturer’s Chinese-owned website.
Servicing, Warranties, and Customer Care
Warranties
- In some promotional content Spa World™ claim to have a 10-year shell warranty. It is important to do your own research as to what is covered for 10 Years as their warranty is split into 10 Years for Shell Structure and 5 Years for Acrylic.
Customer Care
- Spa World™ has a customer care team available 7 days a week to assist existing customers with any queries related to spa faults.
Should I buy a Spa from Spa World™?
If you are in the market for an entry to a mid-level spa pool Fisher Spas® and Vortex Spas™ are good options to consider. Spa World™ is a knowledgeable spa pool retailer and they have had success in the industry for years.
Much like any serious investment, we strongly advise customers to shop around and compare both; products, and the companies selling them. Making a list of “must-haves,” and “would be nice to have” will give you a good foundation to start from. It’s crucial to compare any model you’re looking at spec for spec to ensure you are getting value for money.

If you’re after a middle-range spa pool like Vortex Spas™ you could look to the mid-high range Alpine Spas™ for similar quality, but better value.
